Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Le Viet Duyen presented letters of credence to Governor General Dame Susan Dougan on Wednesday, October 10 via the online platform Zoom.

According to a statement from the foreign ministry of that country, Le Viet Duyen is a professional diplomat who has accumulated extensive experience in various fields of bilateral and multilateral diplomacy and management, including as deputy director, director and then director Deputy General of Personnel and Organization at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Director General of the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Prior to his current appointment, Ambassador Duyen served overseas as Vietnam’s First Consul General in Perth, Western Australia, establishing the Vietnam Consulate from 2012 to 2016. In terms of academic achievement, he is PhD holder. in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and is the author of the book “The Renovation of Vietnam’s Foreign Policy Towards ASEAN During the Period 1986 – 2016”, published by Gioi Editors in 2018.

Ambassador Le Viet Duyen is Resident Ambassador to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and is also accredited to the Republic of Colombia, Grenada, Barbados and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The ministry said the SVG government welcomes the newly appointed ambassador and renews its commitment to work together to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
