OTTAWA (ON), May 12, 2022 /CNW/ – The Government of Canada is strongly committed to achieving gender equality. It is essential to recognize the contributions of the people who play a key role in this effort, as their work can inspire others to make a difference in our country and in the world.
The Honorable Marci Ien, Minister Responsible for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, calls for nominations for the 2022 Governor General’s Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case. These awards recognize Canadians, including young people, who have made outstanding contributions to advancing gender equality.
Gender equality depends on the ability for all, regardless of gender, to participate fully in democratic and public life, to achieve economic security and to live free from violence. Last year’s recipients Monique Aubry Frize, Caitlin Salvino, Carina Gabrielle and Bailey Greenspon are all pioneers in their respective fields, and their continued work has shaped Canada for the best.
Although applications are accepted year-round, the application deadline for the 2022 awards is July 1, 2022. Get inspired by past recipients and view the nomination guidelines on the Women and Gender Equality Canada website.
