Governor General Mary Simon has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement posted on her office’s official Twitter account.
Simon said she had mild symptoms but would take some time to rest for the next few days. She had been self-isolating after her husband, Whit Fraser, tested positive on Tuesday.
“As Whit and I live firsthand, we are not yet out of this pandemic, but we have made tremendous progress,” she said in the statement.
“We are both grateful to everyone who is making a difference in our fight against the virus.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also recently tested positive for the virus, but has since recovered and left self-isolation.
