The curfew imposed on Honiara was lifted as of today December 10, 2021 by the Governor General of the Solomon Islands.

In an extraordinary gazette, Legal Notice 359, the Governor General of Solomon Islands repealed key regulations that give effect to the curfew that has been imposed on Honiara.

“By repealing the main regulations, the curfew imposed on Honiara is now lifted as of this day, that is to say Friday, December 10, 2021”, confirms the Communication Unit of the government in a statement this afternoon.

The national government stressed that this means that movements after 7 p.m. today are now relaxed and people are free to go about their business.

The government recognized and thanked every citizen for respecting the curfew hours.

“Your demonstrated cooperation in respecting the curfew has demonstrated your resilience in ensuring that our country does not sink into new chaos, because this government is deeply indebted to you,” the government statement concluded.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has further confirmed that this applies to all vessels and those residing in the area of ​​the Emergency Zone to move freely and do their business from today and from now on.

“I would like to thank the people living in the emergency zone for their cooperation during the curfew period and my hard-working officers for a job well done,” said Commissioner Mostyn Mangau.
